Household rubbish is collected from the kerbside in a black bag.

The bags must be placed outside your house, either on the pavement or kerbside before 7am on your collection day. Refuse must be properly packed in black bags, and must not be too heavy or contain sharp objects.

Only household rubbish will be collected - this does not cover everything that comes from your house. Non standard refuse can be recycled or disposed of at your nearest Community Recycling Sites.

Remember from 7 October 2010, if your rubbish is collected on a Thursday or Friday your black bags will only be collected on Pink Week.

During weeks that include a public or bank holiday, collection days will be altered. For information on this years collection changes see Holiday Collections. Collections may also be altered because of severe weather conditions, or other problems. These changes will be published on the website.

Rubbish Collection Guide

Bags must be on the kerbside or pavement (unless you have a disability or are an OAP and we are aware of that) - we cannot collect from walls hedges, drives or gardens.
Put your bags out for collection by 7am on your collection day.
Wrap up sharp objects eg. broken glass.
Make sure your refuse sack is not too heavy (under 15kg).
Make sure your bags are secure from the wind and animals.

Black Refuse Sacks

These are delivered at twenty-four week intervals to all domestic premises, with an allowance of 1 bag per fortnight. The sacks are hand delivered and cannot be posted through letterboxes.

They are also available to buy in rolls of ten for 55p from the Contact Centre, Civic Centre.
