Due to the current restrictions the council-run service has changed the way it works.

Tutors have developed short teaching videos and downloadable resources for learners and they are also ready support students through regular emails and group chats during the summer term.

There have already been lots of compliments from those taking part and although aimed at people in Swansea, a small number of learners from as far afield as Italy, the USA and Australia are taking part.

It is not too late to sign-up with the classes ranging in topics from IT and Cookery to Calligraphy, Yoga and Guitar Playing.

A full list of the summer term programme and how to join in can be found at

The classes include videos, handouts, audio recordings, live online sessions, group discussions and social media links.

Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Education Improvement, Learning and Skills, Jennifer Raynor, said: "In Swansea we are very proud of our tradition of lifelong learning and this was an important factor in us becoming one of the very first cities in the UK to be designated a Learning City by UNESCO.

"I'm pleased that despite the current restrictions on all of us, our tutors are still making their knowledge available to students.

"With many of us spending much more time at home it is an ideal opportunity to put that time to good use by learning new skills, so it is well worth having a look at the wide range of courses that are available for free this summer."
