Swansea Council and the National Trust are working in partnership to review the use of their land and beaches for organised outdoor activities.
We are keen to ensure adventure activity operators and organisations using our land and beaches have the right accreditations / assurances in place and adhere to 'good practice'.
An engagement session was held in the Gower Heritage Centre, Parkmill on Tuesday 25 Nov 2025, where local operators got to hear from representatives from Visit Wales and Swansea Council on the benefits of:
- Signing up to the Visit Wales Adventure Activity Assurance Scheme (VWAAAS)
- Promoting their business free of charge on the official destination website for Wales (www.visitwales.com)
- Working with Swansea Council's Tourism Team and being listed on the official destination website for Swansea Bay, Mumbles and Gower: www.visitswanseabay.com
The Visit Wales Adventure Activity Assurance Scheme has been developed in partnership with the Wales Adventure Tourism Organisation (WATO) and Mountain Training's Association (MTA). It aims to provide visitors with a quick and easy way to select adventure and outdoor recreation activity businesses based on their ability to deliver safe and effective industry practice. The scheme enables people to recognise adventure activity and outdoor recreation businesses who offer good practice and standards of safety and customer care.
